Bumrah Joins India’s Squad for Ireland Series as Pandya and Gill Miss Out
The Indian cricket squad will go to Ireland for a three-match T20I series after the current five-match T20I series against the West Indies concludes. On August 18, 20, and 23, the matches are set to take place at The Village in Dublin. Notably, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav won’t be playing in the Ireland T20Is, and Jasprit Bumrah will serve as the team’s new captain. Bumrah, who last competed on September 25, 2022, will face the Irish squad in his much anticipated comeback. Ireland has not yet qualified for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is important to note. Six additional players from the current T20I series against the West Indies will also miss out on the tournament.
OUT: Due to being a part of the T20I squad against the West Indies, T20I captain Hardik Pandya, vice captain Suryakumar Yadav, opening batter Shubman Gill, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, all-rounder Axar Patel, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, and pacer Umran Malik will not be traveling to Ireland for the three-match series.
IN: Pacer Bumrah, who has been absent for 11 months, rejoins the team and will serve as captain for the three T20 Internationals, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube are added to the roster. They also include players who have yet to make their T20I debuts, such as Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Prasidh Krishna.
RETAINED: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, Ravi Bishnoi, pacers Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan, as well as wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, will remain with the team and go to Ireland.
