Future Kevin and Roy scenes in Coronation Street may be hinted at by Claire Sweeney.
According to Claire Sweeney, she recently shot sequences with former Coronation Street actors Michael Le Vell (Kevin) and David Neilson (Roy).
Sweeney returned to the show this week as Cassie, the biological mother of Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and the daughter of Evelyn (Maureen Lipman).
Cassie had been traveling with Evelyn while attempting to kick her drug habit. Now that she’s out on the streets, it looks she’ll return frequently to Weatherfield and quickly get to know the locals.
Some fascinating scenarios have resulted from Cassie and Kevin’s interactions in the garage,” Sweeney said. “Working with Michael Le Vell has been a pleasure.
“I’ve also had the honor of being a part of some amazing scenes with David Neilson. Being able to work with him and observe his process was simply amazing. He is exceptionally articulate, highly intelligent, funny, and humorous when you speak with him before a scene. Once the play begins, he changes into Roy, changing both his appearance and manner.
I honestly mean it when I say this is one of the most joyous jobs I’ve ever had, she continued, reflecting on blending in with the rest of the Coronation Street ensemble.
“It is a true blessing for me to arrive somewhere where I already have some pals. It’s nice that I know Tony Maudsley, who plays George, and Jodie Prenger, who plays Glenda.
“Working with Alan and Maureen and the amazing kids has been an absolutely wonderful experience. I consider myself to be extremely privileged to be a part of this family.
Alan is equally outstanding, and working with Maureen is like attending a masterclass. And to top it all off, I have a really interesting plot line!”
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m., Coronation Street is shown on ITV1 and ITVX.
