Pant set to make a comeback for IPL 2024
It is anticipated that Rishabh Pant will play in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season as he prepares to return to cricket. After missing nearly a year of activity, the Delhi Capitals administration has declared that Pant will captain the side in the 2024 Indian Premier League. Pant is currently receiving rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. If NCA managers give their approval, Pant should be back to full fitness by the end of February.
After a major accident on New Year’s Eve of last year, Pant had to have knee surgery. He has also had to contend with back and ankle issues. His ability to hold wickets during IPL matches is a matter of doubt. According to representatives of the franchise, Pant would only assume wicket-keeping responsibilities with approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If not, he will concentrate on improving his fielding and batting. He won’t just be used as an impact player by the squad.
The Delhi Capitals, who placed ninth in the points standings, felt the pinch of Pant’s absence during the previous Indian Premier League season. His inspired leadership will be crucial to the franchise’s success in the next season.
India has played 62 international matches since January 2023, and Pant has missed a number of them, including the World Cup, the Asia Cup, the West Indies series, the Australia four-Test home series, and the 2023 Indian Premier League. In addition, he is anticipated to be sidelined for the crucial five-Test series against England in February and March as well as the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan. He is already unable to play in the current series against South Africa.
